Sex Virgin Killerはそれまで様々なハードコアパンクバンドで活動していたLilii Mar (aka“masa”) を中心に, 2006年に東京/JAPANで結成された。Sex Virgin Killerの初期の音源はヴィジュアル系のコンセプトに基づいたメロディアス/メタルサウンドが特徴でした。日本での成功にもかかわらず, このプロジェクトは2018年に休止となった。2021年Sex Virgin Killerの復活は大きなサプライズであり, 2018年の活動休止後, 同年に初のシングルをリリースした。「Rebirth/Devil」というタイトルのシングルをリリースした後, 2023年11月にはニューアルバム「Devil」をリリース。このプロジェクトの2番目のバージョンはDarkwaveの影響をはるかに受けているが, オリジナルメンバーのLilii Mar a.k.a masa (ボーカル、ギター、シンセサイザー、作曲家) , Hammer (ドラム) , そしてカリスマ的な女性シンガーAisha! メタルやハードコアからの影響はまだ残っているが, 新しい音楽はよりポストパンク, ダークウェイヴ, ゴシック, デスロックのムードを踏襲しており, これまでの最新EP ("Heaven"、2024年1月, "Visual Shock Noise"、2024年11月) でバンドは印象的に新しい方向性を示した。「Sanctuary 2017-2024」にはプロジェクトの再スタート/再誕生後に録音されたほぼすべての楽曲が収録されており, 3枚のEPと1枚のアルバムから14曲が収録されている。
Sex Virgin Killer was formed in Tokyo/JAPAN in 2006 around Lilii Mar (aka “masa”), who had previously been active in various hardcore punk bands. The earlier material of Sex Virgin Killer was characterized by melodious/metal sound, based on the concept of Visual-kei. Despite a good success in Japan, the project was put on ice in 2018. The rebirth of Sex Virgin Killer was a huge surprise in 2021, and a first single in the same Year, after their activity suspension in 2018. After releasing a single – aptly titled ‘Rebirth/Devil’, they released a brand new album ‘Devil’ in November of 2023. Although the second incarnation of the project is much more Darkwave inspired, it features the original members Lilii Mar a.k.a masa (Vocals, Guitars and Synthesizers, Composer), Hammer (Drums) and the charismatic female singer Aisha! While influences from metal and hardcore are still there, the new material is following more Post-Punk, Darkwave, Gothic and Deathrock moods and with their so far latest EPs (“Heaven”, January 2024 and “Visual Shock Noise”, November 2024) the band impressively showed their new direction. ‘Sanctuary 2017-2024’ collects almost all material recorded after the re-launch/re-birth of the project, and features 14 tracks from 3 EPs and one album, all very hard to find outside Japan!
