RISK RISK is a one-man project from Germany, which started in 2009 and released its first album in 2011 via Astro Chicken, which didn’t make it big, but that’s probably why it’s a sought-after and, above all, expensive rarity today. An digital-only Compilation followed in 2015 entitled “I Hunt For Static – Rare Tracks”.

Since both releases are far too good for just a lucky few people to hear, YOUNG & COLD RECORDS, in collaboration with Brazilian friends Wave Records, put together an LP of tracks from both releases that will appeal to a wide potential electro audience.

Cover, project name, the title “This Is 1983” of the first album and of course the music show a great love for the Italo-Disco sound that was popular in the early/mid 80s. In addition, the listener will find a lot of other sounds from Synth-Pop or Disco to Wave. Everything was produced with original equipment from that time and mastered by Andreas Sippel, whose own band Second Decay was certainly one of the inspirations for RISK RISK.

A bit of Fad Gadget echoes in “Limousine Talk”, a little early The Human League in “Stardust Memories” or “Street Walk” or even memories of Gary Numan in “Dawn Patrol” and „City Talk“ already show what different electro ideas are presented here . “Adventures In Modern Lifestyle” would easily pass as an “unreleased” track by The Twins from their heyday – a catchy tune at its best – and “I Hunt For Static” sounds like pure Den Harrow!. But the catchy and thoroughly danceable Italo sound is over all, which was shaped by acts like Radiorama, My Mine, P. Lion, Hypnosis or Koto and has been celebrating a surprising revival on a small scale for some time now.
